The one of a kind 'Vintage' wedding gown

It is finished...and just in the nick of time..because tomorrow is moving day...
Did it turn out like I expected?
Yes...as I pictured it in my head..with slight/ better changes

All the lace came from this 1950's Vintage dress...
there is just something about vintage lace...
it is timeless, romantic, gorgeous..

And the result's is this one of a kind gown!
since this is a custom dress.
I made the hips on my mannequin the size of the brides,
so you could see the fit and panels.  I however could not get the top the same
size...so picture all this, with a lil more hour glass figure :)

I am so excited, And so nervous....the dress is in the mail. Due to arrive tomorrow
will it fit? will she love it?
Its Her wedding dress...
that is a 'HUGE' thing
(and when you have worked on something..after awhile...you wonder...is it good enough?)

The lil rosette's were one of the changes, but when I placed them on this bustier top...
oh my..the dress became romantic...Nothing else came close

The dress is for my Husbands cousin. She has more the J-lo type figure.
and all the dress's she looked at..either the top worked, but not the bottom..or visa verse...
could she find one that was perfect...YES...
but that would also cost a pretty penny...
We wanted a slight drop waist, to create that curve, a bustier top,
to help make her look more proportional

Some of the dress's she liked had cascading embellishments
like the two appliques you see here

Some of the dress's she liked had inserts and peak- a-boo's

(there looks to be a stain on this pic...there isn't :)
This is a 1920's vintage handkerchief with a reproduction Vintage broach
on a chiffon panel.

And in this Broach is....something blue!

She allowed she didn't mind some color.
her color's are Regency purple, cobalt blue and Sunflowers :)
so I went with just a touch of yellow :)

She wanted a Ty back...and fell in love with this angled layer..(it's in that same
gorgeous fabric with hints of yellow...
and when her 'Booty' is in it..it will do the back justice :)
that and the right slip!!!

That concept came from this pic she loved

But on her...this style would of made her lower half look much
bigger then desired...

The back of the dress will have something...fun...but she has to fit this first...
the result's to what we decide on you will see
when I post her wedding pic's...of course,
that would mean, the dress fit and she LOVED it :)
she is under NO obligation to choose this one.

When she asked me to be her maid/matron of honor...
tears ran down my face, she simply said, " I don't want anyone else
standing next to me"...I was speechless.
I wasn't planning on making a dress...
but as Matron of honor..I am in the thick of this wedding..
and in my mind..I saw this dress..the dress that would look like
a million bucks on her!
you never want people walking away saying..."wow what a gorgeous dress"
you want them to say, "what a gorgeous bride".
The dress bringing out...the beauty in the bride :)

I pray I have succeeded ..for her...it is a gift from my heart!

This is the bride to be...and her future Mr.
Just love her!!!

And then...I just had to make a Mini me dress,
for a very special lil flower girl...

And I used the other half of the 1920's vintage handkerchief :)
and all the left overs...

The Bride and Mini bride :)
Because you see...

The mini bride...is the daughter..she was told, she could never have!!!
I have known this beautiful Bride to be..since she was 17. Well actually a few months before
she turned 17, if we were to get technical lol.
Life's journey had is hard moment's...
But at 39...all her dreams are coming true...
dreams she thought would never be...
And that is why, I want this to be everything for her...everything a Bride dreams off!!!

And then...well I had to make the ring bearer pillow
8 x 8
It's a country summer wedding.. in July!

Even though we became family, because I married her cousin...
we became much more...
the gift going both way's
she is the little sister...I never had :)

and as she walks down that Isle this song will be sung...

And this Matron of honor...will be standing there...
and I know without a doubt...
there will only be a puddle left...
were I should be...
a puddle of happy happy tears!!!

Only 3 more days :)

Only 3 more days...and we close on this home!
We are so excited, so ready, so thrilled...

To read My post about this click

I took our youngest daughter and my two grandchildren
by the home about 10 days ago. (Daddy was at work)
As I pulled up to take this picture of our home...

This Lil miss, In all her 3 1/2 yr old delight said:
"Ooooh Nana A castle"
Mind you, she has never called any home that.
I laughed and said, "Yes, this is Nana's and Papa's Castle"
I saw her eyes were fixated on the dormers
I said to her, "see that tower there? That is Nana's Grand baby room"
and in all her beautiful innocence
I heard...
"Nana, I want to go to your house"!

A Castle! how perfect! through the eyes of beautiful, sweet Angel babies...
I have a castle :)
And that, then makes this song the Perfect song!

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true...

May you dream BIG, May your soul fly free
and May all that you wish for come True!

My Vintage Grand babies :)

We close on our Home May 1st! I have been collecting thing's for
the grand baby room!... I saw some of these Vintage Northern bath tissue
prints..and they reminded me of my Grand babies :)
This was the first one I found...

And it reminded me of this Lil Angel :)

then I found this one...

 And  it reminded me of....

of this Lil Angel :)
Next in line was our oldest Grandson...

This print was sooooo Him :)

The most expressive lil face in the world :)

and then we came to our oldest grand baby...but only one pic worked...

And this pic..reminded me of her, when she was a baby...

This pic is poor due to is being a paper copy and pic taken with a cell
phone that doesn't take good pic's.

so I have only one more to find for now...

one that will fit the personality and look of our
youngest grandson...

It was getting the last picture...that I told the woman,
they remind me of my grand babies... she said, "well you must have very
cute grand babies then"...I thought for a moment...
grinned and simply said, 'YES I DO"

and I also got them....

A lil vintage kitchen!
can you tell this Nana is excited???

Easter

Happy Easter....

Happy Spring...

Happy Happy...everything!

My simple wish for everyone on this beautiful Easter day!

I want to share...one lil thing...just one :)
I am a Lyricist
I love the play of words...the deep sometimes subtle
meanings

This song has always been a favorite of mine...
"Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow's,
lies the seed that with the sun's  love in the spring
becomes the rose..."

Ridiculed, mocked, spat upon, a crown of thorns forced on him,
dying a painful horrible death...
he taught us what real love and forgiveness is...

"Father  forgive them, for they no NOT what they do"

and through this great love and forgiveness..
we have everlasting life...

The seeds of this, are in all of us...
for me, in my darkest moments,
he was there...
 "Just remember in the winter,
beneath the bitter snows...lies the seeds
that with the SON'S love :) in he spring,
Becomes the ROSE!

and my FAITH is strong
because of this!

Beautiful Easter blessing's and much love to all :)

The beautiful Vintage Mess, that will turn into 'THE DRESS'

This is only part of the wonderful beautiful Mess...that will
be turned into a "one of a kind Wedding dress"

This is only, the second one I have done, and its far more complicated
and beautiful then the simple one I did...
For 'ME'
(that was 1 1/2 years ago)

1 1/2 years ago. I found this Vintage 1940's slip dress!
I tend to be all shoulders and chest..leaner through the hips and leggy!
For me, adding volume to my hip's
Makes me look more proportional...
So when I saw this! I new it would work for my figure type :)

I found another vintage dress and used those embellishments, among others I had.
I work with Most real vintage! some reproduction vintage,
and some 'New' embellishments.

My husband and I, were renewing our vow's...and even tho
I had a dress..(something he had gotten me for a Christmas several years ago )...the perfect
gypsy Peggy-Sue dress. It was to fancy for our simple family only, renewal.

It was Summer time,,and hot and humid in the Midwest :)

So this dress was perfect..and with Boot's
so 'comfortable'

I was so worried...
could I pull off this style?
I wasn't a spring chick anymore...
I was 48 yrs old

I felt beautiful, in my one of a kind Dress
and that is how..every Bride...
should feel...
BEAUTIFUL!

Even with the hat on..(just for these pic's BTW)
I felt...pretty, ..and usually
that is not something I feel...because
gravity, mother nature, time, tiredness..etc
catches up to us all.

But it really wasn't the dress...that made me feel beautiful...
The dress...showed my feeling's, romantic, girly,
PINK and me in it...the proverbial TOM-BOY!

I think, when a woman feels loved...it's radiates, sparkles and shines
and she wears it well..It's in her eyes, her smile, how she carries herself
and that is what Makes every 'BRIDE' so beautiful!

There is a reason, we renewed our vows in 2012... My mom was still here,
she is standing next to me in this pic. and my husbands parents are standing
next to him. and then there are our kids and 4 grandchildren

Here we are...many moons ago! with Our five!
see the  beautiful lil chunky girl on the far right...
It's her Birthday today!!!
(I always get so Nostalgic for the old family pic's)

And here we are with our 5
the girl 3rd from the left..is today's Birthday girl :)
(Happy Happy Birthday baby girl, love you to the moon and back..
and then SUM!)
The age range on our kids? they are 22-29 :)

Here is the Main lace for the dress I am working on now.
A 1940's-1950's wedding dress.
I am the Maid on Honor for this Bride.
her wedding is in July :)
and I wanted her to have the perfect perfect gown for her!
this one is testing me..but is turning out so pretty

This is a sneak peak...at the front left side, skirt part of her gown!
Chiffon panels inserted into the lace..but this is the peak a boo side...
with a gorgeous lace with lite yellow flowers, a white Vintage handkerchief, and
a wonderful reproduction vintage heart broach.

I want her to feel beautiful in the gown...
that will show, how LOVED she feels
and she is not a young bride!
not a old bride...
a Bride, who's dreams finally came true.
her very first wedding...
at age 39!
and I am so Happy for her!
